SBI PO 2026 Overview
SBI PO (Probationary Officer) is the premier recruitment examination conducted independently by the State Bank of India (SBI) — Fortune 500 entity and India's largest commercial bank. It is widely considered the most prestigious entry-level officer examination in the Indian banking industry.
SBI PO 2026 will recruit approximately 2,000 Probationary Officers into Junior Management Grade Scale I (JMGS-I). The selection architecture is three-tiered: Phase 1 Preliminary Examination (Objective CBT), Phase 2 Main Examination (Objective test + 30-minute Descriptive English paper for 50 marks), and Phase 3 comprising a Group Exercise (20 marks) and Personal Interview (30 marks).
Selected probationary officers receive the highest starting remuneration package in the PSU banking sector, starting with 4 advance increments resulting in ₹36,000+ basic pay and an in-hand monthly salary of ₹58,000–₹68,000 in Tier-1 cities, complemented by leased residential housing allowances, executive medical coverage, and accelerated promotion pipelines up to Top Executive Grade.
