UP TGT PGT is the premier state-level school teacher recruitment examination conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Education Services Selection Commission (UPESSC / UPSESSB) to appoint Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT) and Post Graduate Teachers (PGT) across more than 4,500 government-aided secondary and intermediate schools across Uttar Pradesh.
UP TGT PGT 2026 has notified approximately 4,163 vacancies (3,539 TGT posts and 624 PGT posts) across subjects including Hindi, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, English, Sanskrit, Home Science, and Commerce. The selection process for TGT is based 100% on a single written examination of 125 subject-specific questions for 500 marks without any interview round. PGT selection comprises a Written Examination (425 marks, 85%), Interview (50 marks, 10%), and Special Qualifications weightage (25 marks, 5%).
Appointed teachers receive 7th Pay Commission scales: Pay Level 7 (₹44,900 basic) for TGT and Pay Level 8 (₹47,600 basic) for PGT with in-hand monthly salaries of ₹52,000–₹72,000 in UP cities, enjoying exceptional career tenure stability, pensions, and local postings.
