With registration active until 30 September 2026, this notification represents the premier national avenue for graduates seeking direct appointment as two-star Sub-Inspectors in the national capital or in central paramilitary forces.
§2. Cadre Hierarchy & Post Preferences
Candidates are placed into six distinct armed services, ranked by popularity and posting lifestyle:
- 1Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police (Executive): Unmatched administrative authority, state-capital urban posting, metropolitan jurisdiction, and highest cut-off threshold.
- 2Sub-Inspector in Central Industrial Security Force (CISF): Elite industrial and critical infrastructure security (Airports, Metro rails, Seaports, Space & Atomic energy installations). High preference due to urban family postings.
- 3Sub-Inspector in Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB): Guarding Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan friendly borders with calm border postings and specialized intelligence wings.
- 4Sub-Inspector in Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP): High-altitude Himalayan border surveillance (Indo-China LAC) demanding supreme physical endurance and mountaineering training.
- 5Sub-Inspector in Border Security Force (BSF): First line of defence on the Indo-Pak and Indo-Bangladesh international borders with robust artillery and desert/riverine wings.
- 6Sub-Inspector in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF): The nation's primary internal security, counter-insurgency, anti-Naxal, and election security strike force.
§3. Examination Scheme: The Multi-Stage Screening
The selection architecture consists of four sequential stages:
- 1Paper 1 (Online CBT): 200 Questions / 200 Marks / 120 Minutes.
- •General Intelligence & Reasoning: 50 Questions (50 Marks).
- •General Knowledge & General Awareness: 50 Questions (50 Marks).
- •Quantitative Aptitude: 50 Questions (50 Marks).
- •English Comprehension: 50 Questions (50 Marks).
- •Negative marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer.
- 1Physical Standard Test (PST) & Physical Endurance Test (PET): Strictly qualifying.
- 2Paper 2 (Online CBT): English Language & Comprehension (200 Questions / 200 Marks / 120 Minutes).
- 3Detailed Medical Examination (DME): Conducted by CAPF Medical Boards under Category-A SHAPE-1 guidelines.
§4. Physical Endurance Test (PET) Benchmarks
Passing the PET requires balanced aerobic stamina and explosive power. Marks are not awarded, but failing even one event causes instant disqualification:
- •For Male Candidates:
- •100 Metres Race: In 16 seconds.
- •1.6 Kilometres Race: In 6.5 minutes.
- •Long Jump: 3.65 Metres (in 3 chances).
- •High Jump: 1.2 Metres (in 3 chances).
- •Shot Put (16 Lbs): 4.5 Metres (in 3 chances).
- •For Female Candidates:
- •100 Metres Race: In 18 seconds.
- •800 Metres Race: In 4 minutes.
- •Long Jump: 2.7 Metres (in 3 chances).
- •High Jump: 0.9 Metres (in 3 chances).
Height & Chest Measurement (PST):
- •General / OBC / SC Male: Height 170 cm, Chest 80 cm unexpanded / 85 cm expanded (min 5 cm expansion).
- •Hill Area Males (Garhwal, Kumaon, Himachal, Dogra): Height 165 cm.
- •All ST Males: Height 162.5 cm, Chest 77 cm unexpanded / 82 cm expanded.
- •General / OBC / SC Female: Height 157 cm.
- •ST Female: Height 154 cm.
§5. Strategy & Cut-Off Targets by Mohit Verma
- •Target Score in Paper 1: Aim for 145+ out of 200 for General/OBC and 130+ for SC/ST. Delhi Police SI final merit combines Paper 1 (200) + Paper 2 (200) = 400 marks. Historical safe aggregate for Delhi Police SI is 330+ out of 400.
- •Master English Comprehension: Since Paper 2 is purely English (Direct/Indirect narration, Active/Passive voice, Reading comprehension, Vocab, Error spotting), daily reading of editorial columns and solving 50 grammar MCQs is mandatory.
- •Driving License Reminder: Male aspirants aiming for Delhi Police must ensure their Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) driving license for motorcycle and car is updated. Learners license is not accepted on physical test day!
